NEW YORK, Nov. 2 /PRNewswire/ — Young entrepreneur Ryan P. stumbles upon American Consumer Financial Network, allowing him to start his own business before the age of 30.

Starting a business is usually a dream many entrepreneurs achieve later in life. Most start their journey as members of the workforce, pinching pennies wherever possible to build a nest egg large enough to comfortably transition into being their own boss. But one young entrepreneur has decided to save his golden years for the golf course.

Ryan P. is a young Hudson Valley, NY, resident who always knew he wanted to start his own business. After spending a few of his post college years in the world of professional poker, Ryan decided it was time to find a more reliable plan for his future. He knew he only had one shot at success and was determined to ensure that he was well informed before taking his leap. Nevertheless, after months of disappointing research, Ryan realized it was almost impossible to find a business that was willing to be candid about its profitability potential.

Finally, while flipping through the pages of Forbes magazine, Ryan came across the ATM franchise, American Consumer Financial Network (ACFN). He remembers the discovery as a surprisingly refreshing breakthrough, saying “I’d become a little jaded because of the constant expectation of fine print. But there wasn’t any fine print with ACFN, they were very upfront.” He was also relieved to find that it only took a few hours a week to maintain a collection of ATMs, allowing him to continue a fulltime career.

ACFN’s business model offers franchisees the luxury of determining the size of their business, tailoring it to fit within their personal time constraints. Younger entrepreneurs can manage multiple responsibilities, graduate school or internships for example, and still offer a few hours a week to their very own cash cow.

“One of the strengths of our business that differentiates ACFN from other franchise opportunities is the ability to scale our business to fit the franchisees specific circumstances,” says Jeff Kerr, President of ACFN. “Most start part time and then build towards full time as they are able to increase both their financial investment and time commitment.

This unique feature allows younger entrepreneurs still busy with full time careers, raising their families and putting their nest egg together to get involved sooner rather than later,” says Kerr.

Ryan recalls the only hurdle in operating his business was his first installation, “Standing in front of this machine, all I could think was ‘How am I going to move this thing?’ But once I got past the initial shock, it was easy. Now it’s a game, I time myself to see how fast I can install them.”

Pizza Franchise Management – 3 Tips for Success

in Business franchises

Owning a pizza franchise can help you get exactly what you’re looking for as a business owner. With an in demand product like pizza and dozens of successful pizza franchises to choose from, becoming the owner of a successful pizza restaurant can be easier than trying to manage other types of businesses.

However, pizza franchise management is not without it’s challenges. Owning a pizza restaurant and managing it successfully can have a learning curve. You’ll need to learn to multitask and handle the demands and problems that will come up on a daily basis. Managing a restaurant isn’t about maintaining perfection. It’s about effectively dealing with problems as they arise and supporting your staff. If you establish some good practices from the onset, they will help support your business as you get new customers and new employees.

In order to manage your pizza restaurant effectively, you should use the following three tips.

1. Establish communications practices.

When you’re working with a large staff like a pizza restaurant, effective communications are important. A restaurant communication book can help you and your staff stay on the same page. You can create a log that can include goals, tracking those goals and the steps that need to be taken to reach those goals. Be sure there is room for employee feedback, manager notes and other important details that will keep all of the team members on the same page. If you establish communications practices with your entire staff, you’ll avoid problems with miscommunications later on down the line.

2. Lead by example.

Successful pizza franchise management starts with your approach to the business. Your employees and any other managers that you hire will be looking to you for guidance and inspiration. The way you approach your employees and the pizza restaurant as a whole will create the environment in your workplace. If you come into the restaurant with a positive attitude and expect your employees to have the same, it’s going to make a difference in their work ethic and the environment in your restaurant. Make it a habit to review any problems or issues with the staff before a shift begins – be proactive and the rest of your staff will be as well.

3. Create a team atmosphere.

As the franchise owner, ultimately the risk and rewards of a pizza franchise are yours. However, you can’t get there alone. Your pizza restaurant needs to have a terrific team in order to help it grow. All of your employees should feel like they are a part of something. If they the goals for the restaurant and know that they’ll be rewarded if those goals are met, then they’ll be more likely to contribute to those goals. Create an environment where the whole team feels invested and you’ll get the best from your employees.

Your pizza franchise management can be greatly enhanced by putting these three tips into action. In addition to the management training from your franchise, you’ll be set up for success.

Overcome Recession Woes In The New Year With A Work From Home Business Franchise

in Business franchises

With the recession in full swing, many businesses are now beginning to show whether they have what it takes to operate long term in the midst of a recession. While some businesses will try to simply survive until the economy turns around, the businesses worth investing in and getting behind right now are the ones that can not only keep their head above water during recession, but the ones that can actually profit when the economy isn’t great. With the lowest overhead of nearly any type of business, work from home business franchises can be one of the most profitable and lowest risk businesses right now. With no office space to lease or storerooms to keep stocked, home based businesses put you at the helm of your own businesses for a low initial startup cost and operating costs that continue to stay low for the life of the business. If you’ve been thinking about a work at home business but have been waiting for the right time, make it your new year’s resolution to start a home based business franchise, and take a look at some of the best choices currently available.

The internet has certainly transformed the way we live. Whether doing research, communicating with friends and loved ones or ordering everything from pizza to Pilates machines, for many of us it’s difficult to imagine going back to life before the internet. Business, however, may be more affected by the advent of the internet that just about anything else, causing businesses to not only start to use the internet for sales and to attract new clients, but also causing entire industries to spark up to facilitate business and advertising on the web. While internet businesses are not unaffected by the recession, the interesting thing is to see how websites like Amazon.com reported their best Christmas sales of all time this year and many other internet companies were able to achieve record numbers despite a less than stellar retail season. What does all this mean? While no one can be sure if this is due to more people putting their faith and their wallets in web retailers or simply that retail is directly tied to recession and internet sales may not follow suit as easily, it’s safe to say that an internet based business is probably a better choice than a retail “brick and mortar” business is right now.

WSI Internet is one of the most popular and profitable internet home based business opportunities. With countless awards including the #1 internet and technology franchise in the world, WSI Internet has built a massively successful model that is scalable and flexible for just about any situation. Franchisees do much of the sales and client relations and serve as the frontend of the business, while the staff at WSI Internet headquarters handles all of the technical work so that literally anyone with a desire to run their own small business, regardless of background and training, can successfully own and operate a WSI Internet franchise. TVME Inc., another internet home based business, also relies on franchisees to meet clients, make sales and keep clients happy and taken care of well after the sales are final. TVME Inc. sells a unique product that provides nearly half a million music tracks and music videos designed to be deployed in public settings like restaurants, bars or bowling alleys. The beauty of this system, as a franchisee, is that you make a considerable profit from each media server that you sell, but you also continue to make a monthly profit from each customer. The devices that you will sell don’t come with any media, they connect to the internet and then provide access to TVME Inc.’s massive library. With the commission from the sales of the devices and the ongoing service fee’s, TVME Inc. estimates that in the right market and with a motivated franchisee, one could easily reach six figures a year and potentially reach 7.

Vending machines are another great industry during recession. Statistically, the industries that most often profit during recession are entertainment, alcohol and cheap food and snacks. While we probably won’t see a vending machine liquor store for a while, there are plenty of entertainment and food/snack based vending machines available today that utilize new technology and proven market research. DVDNow is quickly becoming increasingly popular in the US. You may have seen their sleek red and grey DVD rental kiosks as the local mall or grocery store and been curious or even rented a movie or two. The concept is simple; provide convenient access to the most popular movies as a reasonable price. With brick and mortar video stores being crushed by online rentals and mail-based services, DVDNow has slipped into a great niche-market where many people still enjoy the spontaneity of picking up a movie on the way home from work (rather than having to wait a few days for the mail) and yet many people also still prefer a physical disc rather than trying to figure out how to watch the movie downloads through their computers. This concept has really taken off in Europe, and while it’s gaining in popularity in the states, there is still plenty of room to get in on the ground floor. Another vending business that has shown no real sign of slowdown during the recession is Rocket Vending. They put a new spin on an old business; selling candy through vending machines that are labeled with “Support Our Troops” or “Breast Cancer Awareness”. Many franchisees are seeing a boom in sales because people, when given the choice, will almost always choose to purchase from the machines that promise to give a percentage of the profits to breast cancer research or to the National Military Family Association. The product that Rocket Vending sells and machines used to sell it aren’t exactly breaking new ground, but the philanthropic aspect of the business not only makes more money for the franchisee, but allows everyone from the franchisee to the customer to the franchisor to give a little something back to help others.

With 2009 in full swing, anyone looking to start their own business needs to consider the current economic climate while we’re all optimistic that the economy will turn around, business owners need to prepare for and anticipate the worst. A home based business provides some of the best insulation from economic shifts due to it’s low overhead and due to the recession-resistant industries dominated by home based business. This may not be the time for everyone, but if you have thought about starting a new business, make 2009 the year that you start an internet home based business that will not only survive recession, but flourish.

Franchise: The Online Guide

Posted by admin on 2012/04/27 with No Comments
in Business franchises

Established in 2006, CityLocal is a business directory and guide that serves a variety of locations across the UK. The company’s aim is to act as a community hub and to this end it features local news, events, weather reports and cinema listings, in addition to business information. Each CityLocal website follows a general template but caters for an individual area.

There are very few negatives about the business directory section of the sites. The listed businesses are split into a number of easy to access categories. For example, you can scroll through all the companies that are related to commuters and internet. Or, you can search the site for a specific business. Make sure you look at sites that have franchisees as the vacant sites do not have many businesses listed within. An example of a decent site to visit is Citylocal Cornwall.

If you are unable to find the business for which you’re looking, you can recommend businesses. Another way you can interact with the websites is by becoming a member and posting reviews of businesses and events.

The whole focus of CityLocal is to boost the online profiles of businesses within their communities. In this way, the organisation aims to address one of the more common problems faced by small and medium sized businesses (SMBs); that they are often unable to successfully manage their marketing and advertising strategies. Therefore, although SMBs will usually have websites, they will have a low visibility on the main search engines. CityLocal aims to rectify this problem.

If this type of enterprise interests you, getting involved is relatively easy as each of the separate CityLocal sites are franchises. A quick search will reveal whether there is a CityLocal website for your local area and if there isn’t, you could purchase the franchise and operate it yourself.

This is a fascinating business proposition and indeed there is a significant amount of money to be made from running a CityLocal franchise. For those without a detailed knowledge of IT you’ll be pleased to know that owning a franchise does not require any prior technical knowledge, other than an understating of how to use basic PC software.

Before making the investment in one of these businesses, however, it is important to consider the positives and negatives of owning a franchise. One of the major positives is the fact that there is a relatively low risk of failure. This is because you are implementing a tried and tested business model and will receive support and training from the business. This is particularly true for CityLocal, which has a very strong network of franchisees, a good support team and a well-structured training programme.

Two other points in favour of CityLocal franchise businesses is that they are relatively low cost, as no expensive equipment is required, and that they tap into a rapidly growing market. Online advertising now accounts for 32.5 per cent of all advertising money spent in the UK, according to a 2009 study.

However, there are negatives to owning a franchise. Once you have bought a CityLocal franchise you will have to pay a monthly licence fee. This does vary according to the size of the franchise’s territory and the number of clients that you recruit – however, meeting this fee and turning a tidy profit will mean that you’ll have put in some hard work and have subsequently reaped the rewards.

Franchises are not easy money spinners; to take one on you have to be determined, have entrepreneurial spirit and a large amount of motivation. However, all things considered, Citylocal is one of the better franchises out there.

About the Author

CityLocal websites are not only useful and well structured but they also act as a community hub for a large number of areas. As a franchise opportunity they are not completely risk-free but with the right attitude they can be very successful.

in Business franchises

This kind of question seems to pops up rather a lot however it requires a deeper look to obtain the perfect reply. We could delve into which franchises are more rewarding or whose networks are the biggest but what’s the thinking process following this frequent query? A lot of people thinking about this are in fact searching out a personalised answer. The question is not “What is the perfect franchise?” but rather “What’s the perfect franchise to suit me?”

The thought that there’s a common best franchise business for everyone is comparable to saying that being a teacher or a doctor, as an example, is the best work for all. Of course being one of these is a superb job for many people but the heart of the matter is the ‘best’ is unique for everybody since all of us have distinct abilities, interests and personalities. One persons perfect job may be another persons opinion of hell!

You can take into account some simple factors when considering the perfect franchise to suit you:-

  • What would be your interests?
It’s quite often helpful to be doing something you have a personal interest in. You are likely to find your work a lot more fulfilling as a consequence.
  • What do you have to make an investment?
This can be a sizeable deciding factor that will focus you on what franchise opportunities you could afford. It rapidly cuts down your choices especially on the upper price tag franchise businesses. Do remember though that finance can often be obtainable so its worth checking with your bank to uncover what degree of finance might be available to you.
  • Sell, Work using your hands or Manage?
You might be the kind of individual that likes to get your hands dirty and sort things out for people; maybe you are simply a born sales person; or maybe you prefer to administer a team of people. Whichever your inclination you will find a franchise business out there that will cater for you.
  • Business-to-Business or Business-to-Consumer?
The majority of franchises focus on one market or the other, nonetheless there are some that may provide for both! Do you prefer a corporate way of life, meeting other businesses and adding value to their organizations? Or maybe you would like to trade more with consumers, offering services or products that could improve their life styles?

These are just a few questions that may help focus you on what exactly is the very best franchise system for you. As you progress along the way you’ll likely come up with more questions that you will want to answer for yourself, however as you do so you’ll be moving closer to finding that best franchise opportunity for you.

Finding the right franchise for you

Posted by admin on 2012/04/23 with No Comments
in Business franchises

During times of financial difficulty people are considering what they might do with their futures. Many of us are pushed forward by the impulses of ambition, redundancy or sometimes retirement preparation and looking at self employment through franchising as a step in the right direction. Clearly self employment through franchising is not right for everyone.

The tips below are a guide to help you decide on the right franchise for you. The tips will also help you determine if in fact franchising will work for you.

1. Determine what it is you enjoy doing and what your strengths are. Deciding on a significant lifestyle change will usually work the best if your work activity is focused around doing what you enjoy and do best.

2. Talk to your partner or spouse and explain your thoughts about wanting to build your own franchise business. Make sure that the people that will be most affected by any change in your employment status understand your motives. Make sure that your family will be there for you emotionally and if possible financially.

3. Admit that business is hard work and can have its ups and downs. Happy franchise business is all about replicating proven best practise so this helps to reduce the downs and maximises the ups. It is vital therefore that its necessary to <strong>follow</strong> a system that has been tried and tested.

4. Visit information rich sources online such as franchise directory sites and reading franchise publications where you can study information about franchising and genuine franchise business options that could be of interest to you.

5. Make an appointment to visit the franchise companies that interest you the most. Meet the key people that would train and support you. Do you like them? Could you work with them? Does the visit create confidence in you?

6. Ask for contact details of their franchisees. Speak to the franchisees and ask about their experiences. Ask questions such as, are you happy with the franchise? Do you make a profit? What support do you get? How has the recession effected your sales and profit? Would you buy this franchise if you were me?

7. After you have completed your research, decide which franchise opportunities are of genuine interest to you. Make a short list.

8. It is vital now to speak to your bank. Ask the bank for a report of what they know about the franchises on your short list. Lenders tend to keep records about franchises they know about. With this information you can gain an independent report about the bank’s view of your preferred options.

9. Often you will need to borrow money to start a proven franchise and for this banks may lend up to 70%. This is by virtue of the fact that over 90% of UK franchisees run their businesses at a profit according to the British Franchise Association National Franchise Survey and this gives the banks a lot of confidence to lend to franchise start up owners.

10. The final step will be to look closely at the franchise contract which your chosen franchisor will present you with. This document governs the trading agreement between you and the franchisor. A British Franchise Association accredited lawyer should be consulted.

After completing the above steps you should be well positioned to decide which franchise is right for you. It will then fall to you and the franchisor to sign contracts, arrangement payment of fees, set up training and agree on your franchise business launch programme.

Take your time, find the right franchise for you and then work with the franchisor and your customers to build a profitable franchise business.

Marketing Is The Key To Business Success

Posted by admin on 2012/04/22 with No Comments
in Business franchises

Before you sign up for a home based business, look at the marketing plan. I would venture to guess marketing is left up to you. They give you the website and the bells and whistles. They tell you all you have to do is get traffic to your website. In a nutshell, that’s marketing!

98% of internet businesses fail because of marketing. We don’t know how to market our business. We may confuse marketing with selling. And we all know we don’t necessarily like doing that and selling is one of our main arguments against most home based businesses — we don’t want to sell and we don’t want to recruit our family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, strangers on the phone with cold calls, etc.

Now, that I got that off my chest, allow me to give an example:
Think about franchises. The fast food places. What do they do well? Is it the food? Is it the customer service?

They know how to market. They have a proven marketing system that works! Their marketing system sells the product for you automatically!

Think about the last time you went to a fast food establishment. You may have been invited to try something… you either did or stuck with your original decision. Basically, no one pleaded or begged you to go to that particular place. You decided to go because you wanted something quick and fast… it may have been on the way home.

The home business franchisors know how to market. They know what they can do well… maybe the quality of the product isn’t the greatest, but they get people in 24-7/365. Marketing is their game. And they play it well.

How many franchises have failed in your neighborhood? I would venture to say very few. How many businesses have failed? Many more, unfortunately. That is all due to marketing!

Franchises take the guesswork out of their business model. They control the variables: the menu, the pricing, the suppliers, the deliveries, the location, and even the demographic of your customers. It is all planned and practically a success before they break ground. Franchises have it all together. They have a successful business model that works for everyone! Oh, yes, they do the marketing! If you are a franchisee, you have to have the workers, the doors open, and the burners lit, ready to start cooking. And people will start pouring through the door… the big company has seen to that!

To avoid the frustration and struggle… check out marketing systems in these business programs that are advertised all the time. Think about how the franchise companies work… take a lesson from their success. It is practically a push button operation!
